Committees

As Senator for the 42nd District, which is in DeKalb County, David is one of only three Democrats who serve as a member of the powerful Rules Committee. He was named Vice Chairman of the Special Judiciary Committee. Additionally, David serves on the Judiciary and Health and Human Services Committees. In his first term, David was elected Vice-Chair of the DeKalb County Senate delegation.

In 2007, David was appointed by Georgia's Republican Lt. Governor to be Chairman of hte Senate Urban Affairs Committee. He is one of only three Democrats in the General Assembly that currently chairs a committee. He was also appointed by the Chief Justice of the Georgia Surpreme Court to serve on her Commission of Family, Marriage and Children.
